12:51pm Tuesday 22 February 2011. The moment that life as we knew it did change forever.
This video contains images taken on Tuesday 22 February 2011 (the timestamp on the camera was set incorrectly). This was originally posted on Facebook on 24 February 2011 with the following message:
“Thanks for all your messages of support – I’ve been unable to access internet until now. We’re all okay, however, our house is completely destroyed, has been red-stickered and the site is still without power and water. As a result, we have been left with no option but to leave Christchurch. Thoughts are with all those whose loved ones didn’t come home on Tuesday.”
I would say lest we forget, but we will never forget. Today, four years on from the Christchurch earthquake, it still feels very raw. 22 February each and every year will be a very dark day on the calendar as we pause to remember. Today is of course infinitely harder for the families and friends of the 185 people who lost their lives on this day four years ago. May strength and the people of New Zealand be with you.
