Imagine all the people, living for today. ❤️ #prague #christmas #peace #winter 🎅🏻✌🏻🎄❄️⛄️🇨🇿
Yesterday was the Bexhill Santa Run! Perfect day for it and a great chance to raise some awareness and money for @clapacommunity. With a time of 30 minutes for the 5km course I was pretty happy! A special thank you to my good friend @bidsandri and my Great Aunt Anthea who came down to support! A big thank you to all those who have sponsored me - if you’d like to, it’s not too late - find out more about why I did this and donate here: www.justgiving.com/kardouin 🎅🏻🙌🏻❤️
I’ve just finished this excellent book by @mattzhaig - spoiler alert, there’s many reasons to stick around. Yes, life can be jolly hard for all of us sometimes, I sometimes wonder if only I could see myself the way other people see me, then perhaps it’d be an easier ride; but brains aren’t so straightforward. This world can feel lonely, we can often feel that we are the only person who’s ever felt a certain way, leaving us feeling isolated and weird. This gem of a book reminded me that other people have feelings of inadequacy too, and rather than becoming frustrated at all the things I’m not, to recognise that to feel feeling so deeply is to be in touch with what makes me human, and although I might not be a perfect or particularly notable human, I hope that one day I’ll reflect back and feel that the world was a slightly better place with me in it. ✌🏻
5 years ago today I underwent the biggest operation of my life. My 7 hour jaw op undoubtedly made me look more “normal” and was life changing with regard to my being accepted by others. Particularly following my subsequent rhinoplasty in 2016, it is now the exception rather than a regular occurrence that someone will choose to make a negative comment. Despite this, some people wonder why I’m still wary or reserved around new people; it’s because building up a set of memories of people reacting positively or neutrally when meeting for the first time takes time to counterbalance past experience. But I’m getting there. When I look at where I’ve come in the past 5 years, and the continual expansion of my comfort zone, I am proud. There’s still work to do - there’s still many things that most people find doable that I still find really tough (everything from biting into an apple to sharing my innermost feelings), but I also recognise the many experiences that this journey has brought that most people just don’t get to experience, and rather than despair too much over what I haven’t done, I am learning to take comfort in what I have achieved. Of course, we all know it takes a village to raise a person, and to all the people who have held my hand at key points along the way either literally or metaphorically, thank you. 👫👬
If you ever get the chance to go the Grand Canyon, I cannot recommend it enough - drive there yourself if you can and then go on your own hike in the canyon away from all the tourists - it is amazing and unique in a way photos cannot do justice! #grandcanyon #arizona #usroadtrip #hiking 🏜
I love the heat, but 52C was a bit much even for me! Stunning day for a road trip and a wander through these incredible remote sand dunes in Death Valley! ☀️🔥 #california #hot #globalwarming #hottestplaceonearth
