‘Amour’ – a very sad yet beautiful story

I’ve just seen the film ‘Amour’ (‘Love’ in English) – a heartbreaking story of carer strain and undying love.

Georges and Anne are octogenarians. Everything is going well for the retired couple, until one day, Anne suffers a mini-stroke. When she returns home from hospital, she has become hemiplegic. The love that binds the old couple together is soon put to the test as Anne’s health continues to deteriorate, but Georges has promised to never return Anne to the hospital.

The film gives a valuable insight into the challenges faced by people who care for an ill spouse on a daily basis.

The film is really sad and depressing to watch, but you definitely should see it, particularly if you work with such people.
